River tubing is a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors during the summer months. Texas offers some incredible tubing spots, and I’m excited to share information about a few of them:
San Marcos Lions Club River Tubing:
Location: The Lions Club Tube Rental is conveniently located in the Rec Hall at San Marcos City Park.
Float Duration: The float trip lasts about an hour, making it manageable even if you’re tubing with kids.
River Route: The float ends at Rio Vista Park, where the Lions Club Tube Rental shuttle will pick you up.
Water Temperature: The San Marcos River maintains a pleasant 72ºF (22ºC) temperature year-round.
Unlimited Tubing: With Lions Club Tube Rental, you can enjoy unlimited tubing between 10 AM and 6:30 PM (7:30 PM on Thursdays).
Shuttle Service: Using their shuttle service means you don’t have to worry about logistics—from start to finish, they’ve got you covered.
Freedom to Explore: Since your rentals are valid all day, you have the freedom to explore at your own pace. Grab a bite to eat downtown, float again, and create unforgettable memories.
Rain or Shine: Remember, the river awaits rain or shine! Be sure to check weather and river conditions for the ultimate experience.
Rental Rates
Tube Rental:
$24 per tube, and you can choose a tube with or without a bottom after checking in.
A $25 deposit is required per tube (up to $100). The deposit is placed on your debit/credit card or paid in cash. There’s no additional cost per trip.
Your tube rental is valid all day, and the last time to get tubes is at 5 PM to ensure you make it to the last shuttle at 6:30 PM.
Shuttle Pass (For Bringing Your Own Tube):
$14 per person.
Valid all day, and the last recommended time to get in the water is at 5 PM to catch the last shuttle at 6:30 PM.
Life Jacket Rentals (Not Required but Recommended for Non-Confident Swimmers):
Available for $5.

Texas State Tubes offers shuttle services as part of their tubing adventures on the San Marcos River.
Location: Texas State Tubes, 2024 N Old Bastrop Hwy, San Marcos, Texas 78666.
Details: This tubing spot offers a 3-hour float. You can choose between a package without a tube for $15 or one that includes a tube for $25. Both options come with a shuttle ride back.
Additional Adventures:
If you’re looking for more adventure, consider their public Austin tubing trip, where a San Marcos River guide kayaks alongside your group to help you down the river.
They also offer private transportation tubing trips for groups of 10 or more, perfect for bachelor parties, birthdays, company outings, or just a fun day out12.
Additional Adventure: You can also float from Downtown Austin down to the San Marcos River, which is about a 6-hour adventure. The cost for this tubing trip is $69 per person, including the shuttle ride1.
Dons Fish Camp:
Location: 105 Nelle Ln, Martindale, TX 78655.
Details: A day floating pass at Dons Fish Camp costs $28 and includes a tube, shuttle ride, and parking pass. If you bring your own tube and use the shuttle, it’s $19. The float lasts about 3 hours, and Dons also offers camping2.
Comal River Tubing:
Location: Comal Tubes, 1880 I-35BL, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
Details: Comal Tubes provides a 2-hour float along the Comal River for $30 per person. The float includes a tube, shuttle ride, and free parking. Be prepared for a couple of tube chutes (rapids), but you can choose to pass on them3.
Guadalupe River Tubing:
Location: Whitewater Sports, 11860 FM306 Suite 2, New Braunfels, TX 78132.
Details: Whitewater Sports offers a $24 float package that includes a tube, free parking, and a shuttle ride back to camp. They also have an amphitheater with weekend performances, condos for booking, and cabins called “The Hideout” for accommodations3.
BoatsandBats :
Offers reverse river tubing which save you from having to do the shuttle. Their motorized paddleboard guide will tow you up Barton Creek to give you the chill time on the spring water without the wait.
Rockin’ R River Rides:
Location: 1405 Gruene Road, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
Float Options:
Gruene Float: A 2-3 hour float with 3 rapids.
Huaco Raft Float: A 5-6 hour scenic float (meets at 4484 River Road, New Braunfels).
Pricing: Tube rental and shuttle rides are $25, or bring your own tube for $20. Rockin’ R also offers rafting for $40 per person3.
